Commendation For The Education Minister’s Intervention In Hostel Fee Reduction – William Boadi, EAI

The Educate Africa Institute (EAI) wishes to commend the Honorable Haruna Iddrisu, Minister of Education, for his proactive leadership in urging the University of Ghana authorities to reduce hostel fee increments from 50% to 25%. This intervention is a testament to his dedication to the welfare of students, ensuring that education remains accessible and that financial burdens do not hinder academic excellence.

The increasing cost of hostel accommodation has been a major challenge for students, forcing many into perching arrangements that create uncomfortable living conditions and negatively impact their studies. By championing a reduction in fees, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu has demonstrated a fatherly and empathetic approach to leadership, recognizing the struggles of students and taking decisive action to alleviate them.

We at EAI believe that such leadership must be encouraged and sustained. We urge all stakeholders in the education sector to work together in addressing student welfare concerns, as a comfortable learning environment is key to academic success and national development.

Once again, we applaud Hon. Haruna Iddrisu for his commitment to education and hope that this intervention will pave the way for further policies that support students across Ghana.

Signed

William Boadi

Executive Director of EAI, Educationist, Political analyst, and Social Worker.
