Jeremiah MacLean (JNR JM) and Deputy Food & Agriculture Minister John Dumelo Strategizing Ahead To Empower The Youth In Greater Accra Through Modern Agriculture

Hon. Jeremiah MacLean, popularly known as Jnr JM, a hopeful for the Greater Accra Regional Vice-Chairmanship of the NDC, was recently spotted in a warm engagement with Hon. John Dumelo, Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture. Beyond the photograph is a conversation about the future of young people and the need to create practical economic opportunities for the youth. Their engagement reflects a shared interest in exploring how modern agriculture and agribusiness can become powerful tools for youth empowerment, skills development and sustainable livelihoods.
For Jnr JM, empowering the youth must go beyond political participation. It should also involve creating pathways for young people to acquire skills, access opportunities and become economically independent. Modern agriculture, technology-driven farming, agribusiness, value addition and agro-processing present significant opportunities that can attract young people while contributing to Ghana’s economic development. Such initiatives could also help strengthen the connection between the NDC’s youth base and government programmes and opportunities within the agricultural sector.
As the NDC looks toward the future, Jnr JM believes that a stronger youth agenda must combine political mobilisation with economic empowerment. His engagement with Hon. John Dumelo therefore represents the kind of forward-looking thinking needed to turn ideas into opportunities for young people across Greater Accra. For supporters of Jnr JM, the vision is clear: build an energetic, skilled and economically empowered youth base capable of contributing meaningfully to the NDC, their communities and Ghana’s development.
