Educate Africa Institute (EAI) Demands Immediate Release of Withheld WASSCE Results, Calls for Alternative Exam Body – William Boadi
The Educate Africa Institute (EAI) has issued an ultimatum to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to release the withheld results of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates. EAI has expressed grave concern over the psychological distress the delay is causing among students, warning that such actions could lead to severe mental health issues, including bipolar disorder.
According to EAI, the prolonged withholding of results is not only unfair to the candidates but also undermines their academic progress and future aspirations. The organization argues that WAEC’s continuous challenges with examination malpractice, result delays, and inconsistencies raise serious questions about its credibility as an examination body.
In response, EAI is advocating for an alternative examination body to replace WAEC, ensuring that assessments are conducted with integrity and transparency. The institute believes that a more efficient system, with appropriate measures to prevent malpractices, should be put in place to guarantee the credibility of national examinations.
EAI has urged stakeholders, including the Ministry of Education and policymakers, to consider this proposal seriously. The institute maintains that students should not suffer due to the inefficiencies of WAEC and insists that urgent reforms are needed to restore confidence in the examination process.
The call for change is gaining momentum, as students, parents, and education advocates join the conversation, demanding accountability from WAEC. Whether the examination body will heed this ultimatum remains to be seen, but one thing is clear—EAI is committed to ensuring fairness and justice in Ghana’s educational system.
