EAI Engage BECE Candidates in Nkwateng Circuit: Voices of Hope, Challenges, and Encouragement”

Brief Interviews with BECE Candidates in Nkwateng Circuit by Educate Africa Institute

On June 16, 2025, the Educate Africa Institute (EAI) conducted a survey with open-ended questions among candidates taking the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) at a center in the Nkwateng Circuit, Birim North Municipality. The aim was to gauge students’ feelings during the first papers, assess the impact of invigilators, and determine whether the questions met their expectations. The students also shared some of the challenges they encountered.

Stephen, one of the candidates, expressed relief, saying:

“The questions weren’t as difficult as we expected. We were happy to see that what we learned is what came up. Some questions were a bit confusing, but reading them carefully made them easier to answer. I’m hopeful about my performance and praying for the best.”

Another student suggested that technical terms should be simplified to suit their level. They also noted that some of the past questions they had studied did not appear in the exam. Nevertheless, they appreciated the support from the Educate Africa Institute and their teachers.

Mr. Seidu Daniel, a teacher and EAI volunteer, offered words of encouragement:

“I know some questions may be tough, but I’ll support you in studying hard and researching with your mobile phones. After each class, try to study further on your own, and it will surely help. Good luck!”

Mr. Owusu, a headteacher and proud supporter of EAI, praised the teachers for their dedication and urged students to continue researching and studying hard. He also reminded them to avoid any form of examination malpractice and to ensure they complete their exams in peace.

The interviews were conducted by Mr. Ernest Owusu, Headteacher and EAI supporter, and Mr. Daniel Owusu Seidu, Teacher and EAI volunteer.
